YKK in Central America
Central America is strategically located between North America and South America, linking one to the other. Geographically, it is located between the southeastern border of Mexico and the isthmus of Panama, surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Its territory is approximately 762,064 square km.
The strategic location of Central America provides access to important markets in Latin America and in the United States. Moreover, the distance between each country is not great, and 70% of commerce in the region is located in just four countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
According to one representative of the textile and apparel business doing business in the region, “The proximity to the United States’ market offers a particular advantage over China; it allows production in regular cycles and the ability to respond more timely than Asia to market demands.”
Location is a natural advantage, but it’s just one of the many advantages that Central America offers. The quality of our people makes our workforce a very special one, so special that the Central American labor force is recognized throughout the region and the world.
